Just an Apology

So I wanted to say to all of the people following this blog that I'm sorry for not updating it recently. I myself have been starting to create my own new business and it's still in it's beginning stages as of now. But... once it is complete I'm hoping that teens find it quite helpful in their struggle to become small business owners themselves. Hopefully I will have the website finished and fully operational within one month. Once it is finished I will post all of the steps and the process of which I used to create my new business. All the way from the lawyers and taxes to the actual team that helped me build it and the financial aspects. So stay tuned and I'll get that to you. In the mean time I will try to keep you posted on whats new in the teen business world and feel free to contact me for tips and references as to great books to read to help you get started.

A Teen Entertainer Making It a Business!

It's sad to say but most people (especially teens) get the misconception that the only way to make money in business anymore is either in selling a product or a service. Making money in the entertainment business is pretty much just a far fetched dream. Well... Let me tell you a little secret...That's a Lie! Now I may not be the guy who should be criticizing something like this because I too am guilty of thinking it impossible to make money in any other way than selling a product. But today, I admit, I was proved wrong, and that you can make money in that Industry. And I got the perfect example... AND IT'S NOT JUSTIN BIEBER (talented and rolling in the dough he may be, but way too mainstream). One kid I'm talking about however grew up with me and we actually have known each other ever since pre-school. He is now the drummer of The Farthest Edge and probably one of the best teen drummers I have ever seen...Seriously! And his name happens to be Zack Goggins. Luckily being a good friend of his, he allowed me to write this blog post about him in order to inspire up and coming musicians. If you got the talent, the dedication, and know the right people, it's definitely possible! Zack Goggins grew up in Billings, Montana on his grandfathers ranch and started drumming when he was about 11 years old and has been making beats ever since.Talk about a success story right?? A rockstar drummer in no-where-ville Billings, Montana! Awesome. Well hopefully that gives hope to those who that have been told it can't be done. Because it can! But it may not come easily. Zack practices with his band 2 hours a day every day drumming with his band after school. To put that into perspective I want to show you guys where Zack started out and how he's doing today. To learn more click on this link following his band The Farthest Edge at  thefarthestedge.com . Click on the video above to see where he was when he was 11.

Finding Out Possible Money Makers

There are two things that always seem to stump me when I first start thinking about wanting to make money. First would be, "How will I get this thing off the ground?" and Second, "What am I even doing?". And it's the second one that I'm going to go over today. Believe it or not, as much as you'd like to sometimes disown your parents or think that they have stupid ideas, they might just as well be your key to success. I'm saying this because I myself had the same thought (Being an Uneducated, Egotistical Teen) and the last place I wanted to go to get fresh ideas for making money would be the folks. Finally, when I got past the ego of mine and asked, My Mom had some great ideas! I didn't think so at the time, but after making a few phone calls, turns out there had been accounts of kids around the nation who had done the exact same things and made bookoo Bucks! So thanks Mom! And all we literally did was sit down and brainstorm about my best qualities (like being able to interact with people, etc.) and then thought of ways to incorporate these into services or products that people need! One thing we came up with (dorky and lame as it sounds) was delivering groceries to shut-ins or older folks that cant get out to do it whether it be because of bad weather or just not healthy enough. Doing a bit of research I found there had been kids in places around the country (California mostly... maybe if they were more like their kids they wouldn't be bankrupt ;)) that did quite well for themselves just as long as they did their logistics right and bought in bulk, while saving there customers money and also increasing their profit. It's part time, not that hard, can really make the bank if it's run right, and last but not least... gives a little back to the generation before us showing just how capable we really are!
Just Another Idea.

Job History: Part 1 of Yours Truly

Well today I figured I'd give you just a bit more insight on some of my past business experience as a teen. And today I'll go over my first business which was mowing grass. Pretty predictable and boring right? Well that might be true... Okay it's very true, but that's exactly why I got the job. Not everything you do will be something you LOVE to do, but guess what, it made the money and gave me the experience. Mowing lawns on the riding lawnmower I used made me 10 dollars an hour. This money I also had to use to pay for my lawnmowers gas. But hey!! It's a profit right? and at 10 years old that was good enough for me! So for the rest of that summer I mowed lawns and had plenty of business just because I was a cute, greedy, hardworking little youngster. Granted I might not have made enough money to get you rich, but what I did do was make a connection. Turns out two of my lawn mowing customers owned landscaping businesses. And that will lead to my next job.So always remember that what you might be doing right now may not be making you the most money but it very well could be that what your doing for someone now no matter what it is could creating a new new customer for a future business of yours or they themselves could hire you for something bigger and better yet. And don't forget to always be courteous and do well at whatever the task is at hand..... To Be Continued.

Teen Business Tips from the Get-Go

Many People my age are seeming to lose interest in business it seems, and normally rightly so. Because of child labor laws, not being able to sign anything unless they are 18, and having to deal with the constant put downs of today's society I too almost just said forget it. And trust me, I have seen the issues a hundred times over every time I go to check out a new subject in the business world that I feel like I'd like to dabble in. And luckily for the most part I have support from my parents, but that's still not enough and never will be. You can only live off of your parents recommendation for so long before you have to go out and prove yourself to society. So for my first tip for today, I would have to say, Make Your Self Known!!! That would be number one in my book. Show people you care about business and want to learn! It's all about the networking and that's exactly why I created this blog; to meet other kids like me so that we can work together with a knowledge we have of certain subjects and help get everyone a good start. So keep following and make yourself known! Whether by business cards or just shaking hands with your parents friends hands at dinner parties... GET OUT THERE!
